Hii Retail Dynamic Entity Template Management
This document describes the functionality for managing Item related master data within Hii Retail, focusing on dynamic and standard information for entities like Item, PriceSpecification, and Promotion.
Most entities in Hii Retail support Additional Properties. This capability is very powerful and allows great flexibility in managing your retail operation.
The following description will highlight how you can utilize this flexibility to adapt your retail organization to diverse legal, fiscal and organizational requirements.
Core Concepts
Hii Retail allows for flexible master data management through a templating system. Templates define the properties associated with various entities, ensuring data consistency and completeness across the platform. These templates can be tailored to specific business needs, services, and retail domains.
Standard Information
Fields that are required for all instances of an entity (e.g., Item) are defined as mandatory in the templates.
Dynamic Information
Additional information can be assigned at different levels (e.g., Business Unit Group or Item Category). This information is inherited downwards.
Templates
The templates provide reusable sets of properties for entities. Multiple templates can be combined, with duplicate properties being consolidated into a single instance. Templates can cover multiple entities simultaneously.
Domain Coverage
Templates can be designed for specific retail domains or services, ensuring that all necessary information is captured.
User Guides
Template Selection
Tenant admin users will be expected to perform an initial setup of their templates. They can select pre-configured templates provided by Extenda Retail and/or create their own based on existing ones.
Data Entry
The UI presents the required entity properties based on the selected template, ensuring data completeness. Mandatory fields are clearly indicated.
Data Preview
Users can preview the list of properties and how they apply to their data to verify template changes before applying them.
Configuration Options
The templates allow a user to comply with regulatory demands, fiscal compliance and domain and business requirements in a flexible way.
Dynamic definitions can be different for different parts of the organization. Entities can contain different information depending on how and where they are created, so that a "Milk" will contain the required information for a dairy product that needs refrigeration, while a "T-Shirt" will not. Instead it will have the required information for a fashion garment with color and size information.
Data Types
The templates support a comprehensive list of data types. See here for more details.
Best Practices
Planning and Design
Careful planning of your selected templates is crucial for efficient master data management. Consider the specific needs of different business unit groups, business units and relevant services.
You will have the best experience of using Hii Retail if this is given careful consideration early in the process.
However, should changes be needed, that is fully supported.
Template Versioning
Use template versioning to track changes and manage updates.
Property Naming Conventions
We recommend to follow the naming conventions used already in Hii Retail. Establish clear naming conventions for your own properties to ensure consistency.
Testing
Thoroughly review and test your templates before deploying them to production.
