What Cash Management receives

Cash Management is always used together with Reconciliation. It has no input of its own for the tills' cash: it reads it from Reconciliation, and everything else it needs from other Hii Retail services:

The business date

Every movement belongs to a business date: the store's local date, shifted by the business-day offset set on the business unit in Business Unit Management. Reconciliation and Cash Management use the same rule, so a till audit and the safe movements it causes belong to the same day.

A store whose business day ends at 03:00. A bank deposit recorded at 01:30 on 1 October belongs to business date 30 September, together with the evening's till audits and safe audit. A bank deposit recorded at 03:30 on 1 October belongs to business date 1 October.

  • Movements from Reconciliation carry the business date of the till audit that caused them.
  • Movements recorded in Cash Management, such as bank deposits and safe audits, get the business date of the moment they are recorded.

Before a store starts trading

🛑 Check the store's setup before its tills send their first transaction. Cash Management books each event from Reconciliation once, with the setup it has at that moment. Correcting the setup afterwards does not bring back what was ignored.

  1. A safe. Without one, Reconciliation's events for the store are ignored. See The safe.
  2. Cash tenders with a currency. A tender reaches the safe only if its type is cash or foreign currency and it has a currency. A tender with another type, or one that Cash Management has not received, is ignored.
  3. Reconciliation set up for the store. Cash Management only books what Reconciliation reports. See What Reconciliation receives.
  4. An opening balance, counted in Count Safe, so that the first safe audit starts from what is really in the safe.
