Tax Rules

A bicycle sold in Madrid carries 21 % VAT. The same bicycle in Las Palmas, on the Canary Islands, carries 7 %, and in Lisbon 23 %. Tax Rules keeps the answer for every country Hii Retail supports: the tax rate for each kind of goods in each tax region, and the date each rate applies from.

A receipt from the Madrid store, which is in tax region ES. The bicycle's price is in taxable group Standard and the bread's in SuperReduced. Tax Rules gives ES Standard 21 % and ES SuperReduced 4 %, so the receipt of 1,211.04 EUR holds 210.00 EUR of VAT at 21 % and 0.04 EUR at 4 %.

Tax Rules is global: one list for every company. A tax rate is set by a country's law, not by the retailer, so every company with stores in a country uses the same rates. Hii Retail therefore keeps them once, Extenda maintains them, and when a country changes a rate, one change reaches every company. What your company decides is which tax region each store is in and which taxable group each item is in.

Extenda keeps the tax rules for every country, the same for every company. When a rate changes, Tax Rules sends a message that Business Unit Management and Store Data receive, and Store Data passes the rates to the tills in the stores. Any other system, such as a back office or an ERP, reads the rates with the Tax Rules API.
