Additional Features with Events
The events approach enables several features beyond what is available with the Proxy approach. Because Hii Retail stores a local copy of the order data, the system can offer richer functionality at the POS and across the platform.
PosLog Generation for Warehouse Deliveries
When the external OMS sends an event for a delivery fulfilled from the warehouse (i.e., not handled by a store), the service generates a PosLog for that delivery. This makes the order searchable at the POS just like any other in-store sale, enabling support for returns and complaints in the store even for orders that were originally fulfilled from the warehouse.
Customer Order Creation from POS
With the events approach, customer orders can be created directly from the POS. This is not possible in the proxy approach, where the POS only has read access to orders managed by the external OMS.
Store Notifications for Picking Orders (if using Click & Collect for picking)
When a new customer order is created in the external OMS, the store receives an event notification. This enables the store to begin picking and preparing the order for customer pickup. This is essential for Click & Collect workflows, whether you use the Hii Retail Click & Collect module today or plan to adopt it in the future.
Extensive Order Search
The proxy approach is limited to fetching a specific order by ID. With the events approach, the service supports extensive search capabilities, allowing store associates to find orders using a variety of criteria. This improves the in-store experience when customers do not have their order ID readily available.
