Item Categories

We expect all items to have a category, it can either be on the lowest level like “Non-Alcholic, Low-Fat Beer” or it can be on the highest level “Beverages”, or anywhere in between. Some have 5 levels in the category tree structure, some have only 2, both are supported. You first need to import all your categories here. Each order line carries the category of its item, which is how Click and Collect groups what a picker sees.

Categories also define the content of the zones in your store — zones exist today and can be created, edited and filled with categories through the API and the app.

⚠ The pick list is not yet sorted by your zone layout. The intent is that categories and zones drive the picker's route so nobody walks the shop twice, and the configuration for it is in place. The sorting itself is not applied yet, so today the categories group and label what the picker sees rather than deciding the order they see it in.
