Overview

POS Functionality​

The following Extenda Retail POS functions are supported. 

  • Register items
    • Scanned with barcode reader
    • Scanned with camera scanner (Mobile)
    • Manually entered
    • Selected in PLU list
  • Commands Menu palette
    • Dynamic and configured in Transaction Engine
    • Offers access to any supported function in POS
  • Transaction Search
  • Item Search
  • Payments

Receipt Printing​

Receipt printing is supported via Checkout Engine. Checkout Engine supports multiple connected receipt printers, connected via ethernet or WIFI and allows the Checkout App to select the printer to use. 

Card Payments​

Checkout App never touches any card data outside PCI scope.

Language setting​

The app locale is inherited from Hii Retail cashier's JWT token

Supported Languages​

Most language resources are produced by Checkout Engine, hence languages by POS are to a great extent already supported by Checkout App. The following languages are supported locally by the application

  • Catalan
  • Danish
  • Dutch
  • English
  • Estonian
  • Finnish
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Icelandic
  • Portuguese
  • Spanish
  • Swedish

If the device locale isn't among the supported above, the following will occur:

  • Local string resources (e.g., user interface buttons) will be shown as an identifier.
  • POS string resources (e.g., the menu and other dynamic content) will be presented in the device locale if it is supported by POS. If not supported, POS will use it's default locale which typically is the default locale for the region.

Security​

The POS clients requires the operator to sign on with POS operator and password before any functions can be accessed. Hence, the security of the POS system applies also to the Checkout App.

Checkout App supports secure communication over HTTPS.

The screen can be locked when no actions are performed over Checkout App. This feature is disabled by default, and can be enabled using settings.
